About Me

untitled

keep calmHello, I’m Annie Online. By the way, Annie is not my real name. I am 12 years old and I’m now in 6th grade (almost in 7th grade). This is my second year blogging and I love it. As you can see from the title today I will be talking about me. I love blogging and we would never be blogging if our English teacher hadn’t discovered it.(If you want to know how I made this avatar read till the end)

First of all, I have two sisters and I love them. One of them is my twin and the other one is younger than me from 4 years. They are both in the same school but we are all in different classes.

Second of all, I’m Chinese and I’m born in Canada. I speak in 3 languages Cantonese, English and French. But I’m not that good at Chinese but I’m improving. Moving on…. Continue reading

My Opinion

In this essay I will be comparing the themes in Timmerman and other stories I’ve read. The themes are mostly friendship and belonging because the problem always happens between family, friends or people that will in the future become your friend.

One day in the story of “Timmerman Was Here” her grandfather had to leave to go live somewhere where he can be with people his own age. A few days later Timmerman moves in. The weeks after Timmerman moved in, rumors started going around the neighborhood and at school. Since some people saw him walking around at night with a bag and a shovel, everybody thought he was a bad person, but she knew he was good. Once Timmerman left spring came and tulips started to bloom out of the ground. Some people thought it was a miracle but she knew it was Timmerman because at the end all the tulips spelled out “Timmerman was here”.

In the story “Father’s Day” the issue here is that the day before Father’s Day, Taylor’s dad had just passed away. On Father’s Day everyone had to make cards for their fathers but instead Taylor made a card for an angel. Then the most wonderful thing happened. His mom met Michael. On New Year, Taylor wished for Michael to become his father. And that wish came true.

The story Timmerman and Father’s Day are similar because they both lost someone in their life. Whether those people passed away or they moved away they still lost someone. But not long after they were able to find someone to fill in that empty space in their life. In the story Father’s Day Michael fills in the empty space in Taylor’s life and in the story Timmerman it was Timmerman who filled in the empty space in the girl’s life.

The grandfather is so important to the girl because he might have been the one who was always there for her and maybe because he was the only one who truly understood her. And how Timmerman became closer to the girl is because he was nice and kind to everyone around him.

In the story Father’s Day, the reason why the dad is so important to Taylor because of course it’s his dad but it could have also been lots of other reason too. And how Michael was important to Taylor is because Michael was nice, and a good father to Taylor.

Haikyu!

For the past month, I’ve been reading this great manga series named Haikyu! This manga is about two volleyball players Hinata and Kageyama who were once enemies but are now teammates on the same volleyball team at Karasuno High School. For the whole high school year, Hinata, Kageyama and their volleyball teammates compete with other school volleyball teams so that they can get back on top. The author of this manga is Haruichi Furudate.

I really like this manga series because I love how the story goes. Also I really like the drawing style he uses to create these characters. And they also make all the characters have a different style of playing volleyball. Some of the characters play with a strategy and some of them just do what they can to prevent the ball from touching the floor.

I would recommend this manga to lots of people especially manga lovers. This is a good manga that I recommend because each volume is not too long or too short and the story they tell is quite interesting.

Did you know that manga are read from right to left starting in the upper-right corner? Manga are read from right to left because the traditional Japanese written languages are from right to left. Traditionally, Japanese is written in a style named tategaki, which copies the traditional Chinese system.

*Manga: A manga is a kind of book. It’s a Japanese hand-drawn comic series created in Japan or by creators in the Japanese language. These manga can be translated in English so that English readers can also read these lovely manga.

*Haikyu: In Japan haikyu is what they call volleyball in Japanese.

A Good Comment

A good comment to me isn’t a super long one or one with enriched grammar. To me a good comment is a one that compliments your post, encourages you on doing your best, one that connects to your post, one that is overall being nice like complimenting your blog or one that has a question in it. Some comments could sound normal. Like someone saying: I know that game too or I’ve heard of that too. I think that a good comment would contain a connection to something in your post like: I’ve also read that book and I love this one character who’s your favorite character. Or a comment that gives you extra information like: I have already seen that movie too, did you know that… Something like that would make a great comment. Continue reading

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

This book that I’ve been reading in class is about an orphaned wizard named Harry Potter who lives with his mother’s non-magical sister Petunia and her non-magical husband and son, Vernon and Dudley Dursely. There, Harry is treated poorly and gets bullied by his cousin Dudley. But to Harry’s great relief he can escape the Durselys by going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At Hogwarts, Harry and his best friends Ron Weasly and Hermione Granger study magic. But they find out that there’s a plot at Hogwarts to make most terrible things happen. So through the year Harry and his friends try and find clues to who’s doing all this. So by breaking a few school rules, they manage to come up with a plan to find out who’s been doing all these terrible things. But while doing all this for the school, more students are experiencing the terrible things happening at Hogwarts.

In my opinion, I think that Harry Potter is a great book that I would recommend to most ages since the words aren’t too hard and the story isn’t too complicated to understand. Also, I would recommend this story because the style of writing is very interesting and creative. I think that most people would love to read this story because the author was able to put in so much interesting content by writing in spells, potions and magical creatures. And you can tell that the author put in a lot of effort since she put in lot of details. Whether it was the spells or potions, or even the magical creatures that were in the book.
